Drop-ins
Supportive environments for young people to do fun activities, build friendships and develop skills
At FYA, our drop-in sessions provide young people with safe, supportive environments to engage in fun activities, build friendships, and develop new skills.
Each drop-in is designed to meet the diverse needs of our participants, offering a variety of experiences tailored to their interests. Whether it's through the Girls Club, Warren Weeklies, or Cumberland Youth Club, our drop-ins are a cornerstone of building relationships with local young people, fostering community connections, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Join us to explore, learn, and connect with like-minded peers in a welcoming space.
"My experience in girls club has been so helpful I feel more confident around people, the staff give great advice and support for a lot of my personal issues, it's a lovely environment with lovely company to be around."
"CYC is such a fun place! I love how we get to be creative with different activities, especially when we make all sorts of food. It's a great way to learn and have fun at the same time. Every day feels like a new adventure."
"I did my Duke of Edinburgh placement at CYC and it was amazing. Having attended since I was little to now take on more of a leadership role - I gained so many new skills, from teamwork to helping prep and lead creative sessions, and it really helped me grow in confidence. The staff were super supportive and made fun."
"It’s not just a place to hang out, it’s a place where you can be creative and try new things! I always look forward to coming back and seeing what we’ll do next."
"Girls club is a safe space for me and everyone there offer amazing support and advice; workshops and mentoring"
"I love girls club! Everyone here is so friendly and I feel safe and open to talk about my feelings without being judged"
“I come to HPOD (Cumberland Youth Club) every week. I feel safe with the team and I really like them. They listen to us about activities we might want to do and try to bring them into the plan for the weeks. I have also made some new friends.”
“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after school, but the youth workers really helped me figure out my options and what would suit me best. They even helped me with my application and recommended places where I could volunteer, including at FYA. “It’s not just about the activities—it’s a space where I feel understood and supported. CYC is a place I can count on for advice, whether it’s about school or life in general.”
“I have started going to the other club in the area, but I really like CYC. I think it is because we have fun but also there are times we can volunteer and help too. I really liked being part of Communi-trees and planting the new trees in the area. Since Community Kitchen started I get to see my friends and their families on Mondays and on Fridays now – best start and end to the week!”
“The trips are my favourite part, but the staff try to bring activities to the area we might not get to do normally like tie dye, archery and other things. It used to be that we came and played on the console but now we actually come to chat and play uno and mafia and just be together.”
The Girls Club at FYA is a vibrant and inclusive space for young people who identify as female, aged 11 and above. Every Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, participants come together to engage in a variety of activities tailored to their interests, including sports, arts & crafts, cooking, and more. The club is a place where young women can express themselves freely, explore new hobbies, and build lasting friendships in a supportive environment.
In addition to the fun activities, the Girls Club also offers a unique opportunity for peer support. Each session includes time for open discussions, where participants can share their thoughts, challenges, and experiences with one another. This supportive atmosphere encourages personal growth and helps build a strong sense of community among the girls. Whether you're looking to try something new or simply want a space to relax and connect with others, the Girls Club is the perfect place to be.
Warren Weekly's is a lively drop-in session held every Sunday at the Warren Centre, designed for young people aged 8 to 16. This program offers a relaxed and fun environment where participants can enjoy activities like PlayStation 5 gaming, board games, music, and more. The sessions are structured to cater to different age groups, providing a space where everyone can unwind, socialize, and make new friends.
The initiative was developed in response to feedback from our Youth Ambassadors, who saw the need to revive youth engagement at the historic Warren Street location. Warren Weekly's fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, making it a highlight of the week for many young participants. Whether you're looking to relax with a game or connect with others, Warren Weekly's is the perfect place to be on a Sunday.
